Confession: Can’t think to confess. Too shocked about American Idol outcome. Too blown away by how awesome everything but the conclusion was. (Cyndi Lauper + Alison gave me goosebumps!) I’m not saying this HuffPo article says it all, but it’s certainly a relevant consideration. I did, however, work myself into a feverish, fantastical froth of excitement over potential Team Glambert duets – Dave Gahan? Robert Smith? Morrissey? RUFUS WAINWRIGHT? – of course none of them would be caught dead on AI, but still. A girl can dream, and she can dream big. BIGGER THAN JESUS, EVEN, BITCHES. So here, take it. The same dress you saw yesterday, with one of your favorite tops on me. I’ve nothing more to give.
FFAF SPECIAL ALERT: Don’t say I didn’t warn you! The tomboy and I are packing up and heading…um, East! That’s it, East. East to Yosemite for a glorious 4-day camping trip full of horseshoe games, exploration of several lakes and nearby creeks, lounging poolside with a 2′ tall stack of books, and chocolate fondue. That’s right. FONDUE. Ask anybody. Even when I camp, I am fancy.
The downside? 4 FFAF-less days.
The upside? Some rugged FFAF posts when we get back!
you know what? fuck yosemite. fuck it with a big yosemite rock! if you are going to go east, why dont you make it count and come to brooklyn!! i know you know who’s coming to stay in the lesbian basement…
in other news: i made a headband braid out of my hair today too. but in order to make it stay i had to fuckin weave it to my scalp which gave me a headache all day and i’m pretty sure i growled at people on the subway. ah, vanity.

i am all about your headband braid and look forward to the days when i can do that!! i am also glad you did this because i recently showed fp a website with all these cute buns and braids and i think she thought i was headed straight for ren faire territory. now why should wenches get all the fun; fashion plaits can too!!!
and finally, i’m going to have to agree with AYL up there about coming further east! brooklyn + boston = the awesome!

Well if we’re advocating for “The East” I say come to the Southeast…with Connor please!! Have a wonderful time at Yosemite, it’s one of my favorite places in the west. I hope you’re staying at the Ahwahnee, it’s beautiful!

Darling, please don’t scare me like that again! I was so worried when I saw the title of this post, imagining all sorts of catastrophes, near-death experiences, etc. And now, having done so, I cannot let another minute go by without saying how much I appreciate you & your joie de vivre. Correction: Joie de femme. Even in Yosemite, which is saying a lot.
Van and I went years ago. That was back when I still did outdoorsy stuff with her. Now I just say, “Enjoy, honey! I’ll be at the spa.” I think the last thing we did along those lines was a ladder climb up a mountain at Bandelier Nat’l Park; it was positively *harrowing* for yours truly, who is afraid of heights. You, however, are fearless (I remember that skiing trip) and will no doubt hike the highest peaks in Yosemite!
Your shoes and bag are adorable. In beauty news, I’m wondering if you tried the blood orange lip and/or cheek, which was so big this spring. I would think warm reds would look pretty on you, no? Also, what do you think of Sean Jean’s I am King? (Tacky name notwithstanding) I’m intrigued by the idea of a masculine fruity/juicy/citrus but haven’t smelled it yet.

Re: Blood orange trend – I used to religiously use a stain by Vincent Longo’s – maybe Baby Boo? – which was a great blood-orange shade on my cheeks, but I’ve always avoided any orange as far as lip goes. Too much yellow in my skin tone? I don’t know, but I’ll check it out on my next Sephora trip!
I hadn’t seen those winners, nor have I sniffed them, save Prada for men, or I Am King, but now I’m intrigued! I’m still swooning over the other day’s Montale, but mostly wearing the Gucci by Gucci EDP for day.
