CONFESSION | FEMME: I’ve got a neat little story about this dress. My dear friend, Trixie from Toronto, sent me a bunch of links to vintage dresses on ebay.com that she felt might suit me. I loved how serious and plaid this was (a dark sage green with black checks), the fact that it came with an adorable matching bolero and belt (to be pictured next time). It was only when I first put it on that I realized the fit was perfect! Trixie, it seems, has a real knack for this. Sizing a gal up and sizing a dress up and saying with certainty: This one. You need it. Get it. GET IT! A few things about tonight’s trip to Bourbon & Branch: I may or may not have been allowed behind the bar to mix things up a little. I may or may not have sampled at least a dozen odd cocktails in a two-hour length of time. I may or may not be in love! You’ll see when I post my favorites, because you will 100% absolutely want to try them.

CONFESSION | TOMBOY: I hate SF so much right now! $2K for an apartment with a bathroom smaller than our current liquor cabinet! WTF? The fog is making everyone demented in the city. 15-minute open houses! Yes, let me just drop everything, schlep during the busiest possible traffic hours to come see your miniature toilet! Fucking Polly Pocket couldn’t live there! Gah! (You do realize that B is just going to exploit this for her own gain, right? – SBJ)

B will not exploit this because it can be just as ridiculous here. but still, move here.
also, we were watching house hunters and this lesbian couple was also trying to find a place in SF to live and we were surprised how grim their 3 options were. you either had to skimp on the kitchen to get a decent living room or skimp on the living room to have a decent bedroom and so on and so forth. they settled for a place with a big kitchen, small dining room/living room thing, and decent bathroom and bedroom, BUT…they had to put their clothes in this weird wardrobe thing next to the dining room table. shit was expensive!

Apartment hunting is a bitch. I can only imagine how tough it must be in a real city. When I moved to my town, I spent a day going to all these possible spots. At one of them, I got chased by a dog. It was not a pleasant experience.

But on a happier note, those photos of you two are so, so dreamy!

Ya’ll are so sweet together! Good luck on the apartment search, that sounds depressing as hell.

It is out of control. Yes, we’re being awfully picky (NO carpet, NO tiny dorm-like bedrooms, NO neighborhoods where the petite is unable to walk down the street to the bookstore or cafe or whatnot, preferably more than one bath with dishwasher and some sort of laundry option, takes two dogs, isn’t three-bloody-grand/mo., etc.), but…well, we’re being awfully picky.

AYL, that house hunters noise is bananas. What were they willing to spend? We think it’s nuts that our test-driving a place in SF for a year or so before we buy is turning out to be harder than just buying. What if we hate it? What if Cel hates it?

M sent me a few places in Brisbane and San Mateo and I’m sure I seized. It’s involuntary. There was a really, really beautiful place perched on the Pacific in Pacifica, but the exterior looks like a bloody motel.

We drove through the hilly part of Glen Park last night and I died. I want to live on Thor Street! THOR STREET!

Sexy pics of you 2 smooching! Sounds like Bourbon & Branch was dreamy. Looking forward to those cocktail recipes. ;-)

Did you see that Forbes.com article on the most expensive US cities for renters? No surprises–New York is #1 (Manhattan, really) and SF is #2. Here are the top 10 with pics:

I’ve rented on one of these cities myself and know how difficult it is. Good luck!

ZOMG, SF, $1900 wouldn’t get you a house in SF! Well, it might, but way out in the Sunset or worse. (I was born in SF, I get to talk like that.) $1900 won’t even get you a decent 2-bedroom in a decent neighborhood with hardwood floors that takes dogs and has a toilet that looks like it was made for grown-ups, as opposed to (as M likes to say) FUCKEN POLLY POCKET!

We actually looked at a relocation to the nicer areas of Brooklyn for awhile, and it was cheaper. Crazy, right?!

I am just seeing this now! I have been paid the highest compliment by earning a mention on the blog of the most fashionable woman I know!

Dress looks adorable! Can’t wait to see it with the bolero jacket.
