Lollipop. | August 27, 2008 | Comments (0)

When: Wednesday, August 27th, 2008.

What: Gentle Fawn black cotton romper with thrifted pink corduroy bow belt and Bakers “Tetris” stilettos. Vintage silver and white beaded clutch. Silver and white earrings from Puerto Rican boutique.

Confession: It was superhot today, like superhot. I could not breathe when I stepped out for lunch today and we still have the AC blasting at the loft, so it was the perfect day to come home, rinse off in the shower (hence the messy ponytail) and step into the perfect summer romper, spruced up with mishmashed accessories.

PS. ZOMG, Tetris on Facebook, y’all. I challenge YOU!

PPS. Wowza, the annoying dyke on Shear Genius won! Maybe she’ll miraculously get less obnoxious with fame and fortune!

Way down low to the ground low femme. | August 24, 2008 | Comments (0)

When: Saturday, August 23rd, 2008.

What: Zara Woman skinny blue jeans, Nocona cowboy boots with vintage spurs from Tal-Y-Tara, vintage candy-stripe swimsuit, SF hoodie procured from one of those post-baseball game street hucksters at AT&T Park in San Francisco.

Confession: I told y’all that some days I was low femme! Or, you know, not all dressy and shit. See? Earlier in the day I was traipsing around the beach in a Mango dress, but once the fog finally hit the sand around sunset, I yanked on these jeans and my new (favorite) hoodie. YAY SAN FRANCISCO!

It is worth noting that Tal-Y-Tara is SF’s only tea and equestrian shoppe. Their Motorloaf is the most delicious bread I have ever had in my life. All their recipes are very secret. M & I go here as often as we can to enjoy a lovely high tea in the wonderful garden, where you feel as if you’re anywhere but in the middle of one of the most exciting cities in the world.

Of course, if you prefer to enjoy your tea indoors you may do so amongst the excellent new and vintage collection of equestrian goods and anything your heart desires for having a fancy tea party of your own!

Oh, and they’ve got a giant pony statue thing that they put outside of the shop whenever they’re open. I highly recommend it.

Sweet dreams. | August 23, 2008 | Comments (0)

This is terrible of me, but I am cross-posting this parade of very beautiful lingerie from another blog of mine. I can’t help it. It’s all too beautiful to just ignore. I hope you like it, because it’s not as if lingerie will make an appearance on this blog any other way!

NOTE: It’s not exactly safe for work, but it’s Friday night after all.

If I had thousands of dollars to spend on a dozen or so ranges or key pieces, my purchases would look a lot like this…

The below make Agent Provocateur seem like child’s play:

“Floral print and Calais Lace trim by Elise Aucouturier.”

“French silk soft bralette by Elise Aucouturier in an elegant floral print with contrasting black and ivory Calais lace seams.”

Swoon…Chantilly lace!

Boxer shorts for femmes! How I love Tam-Tam.

Ethereal Eres, more…

The above set seems made for the express purpose of eating ice cream on a big wrap-around front porch in a swing or rocking chair, so hot out that the ice cream is melting faster than you can eat it, with a whole bunch of bright stars shining and the sounds of a river close by.

“Sheer cotton crepe bralette with elegant silk trim by sought-after NYC designer Araks.” Certain girls I know might pair these with super dark wash, high-waisted denim shorts and Victorian-esque lace-up boots!

Satin fatale harness bodysuit. Nom.

Lambskin leather. Would make lovely bracelets, don’t you think? (Go on, just guess their intended purpose.)

Cheeky in a deep satin chiffon plum!

And why shouldn’t my lingerie have pockets, hm? Exactly. Good femmes always have a trick or two up their “sleeves.”

It takes a certain kind of arse to pull this silk and chiffon confection off without sliding mightily down the wrongful path of vulgar, but if you’ve got it there’s going to be one lucky recipient of a strip tease to contend with!

Into the woods. | August 19, 2008 | Comments (0)

When: Tuesday, August 19th, 2008.

What: Chiffon racerback floral tank from GO Int’l. Gray trousers from Glow on Lakeshore Ave. Pink snakeskin sandals by MaxStudio. All jewelry has been scooped up from this or that East Bay boutique!

Confession: I’ve only worked where I do for over a year. What can I say? I get bored rather easily at a rate of speed possibly faster than even Maxwell’s equations can manage. There is a lovely gem of nature just a stone’s throw from my workplace that I have not explored prior to this evening.

It makes the lush backdrop for today’s post, and I trust it will provide me with a fiery autumnal palette in coming months. (A reason, I suppose, to stay exactly where I am for at least a little while longer!) I hope you like the change of scenery!

Bona drag. | August 18, 2008 | Comments (0)

When: Saturday, August 16th, 2008.

Femme What: Lovely green stretch satin Donna Riccio cocktail dress with keyhole back (pictured below courtesy of Nordstrom), with Calvin Klein cutout heels in black patent and suede. Black satin clutch from Jessica McClintock.

Tomboy What: Black trousers (The Producer) from Express for Him, white dress shirt from Alfani. Black pinstriped blazer by Banana Republic, black striped tie by FCUK and black boots by Kenneth Cole.

Confession: We had too much fun at this surprisingly delightful drag king contest! We were actually very fancy for folks who weren’t performing in the show, but no matter. It was great entertainment and we had a blast, even mingling with the contestants whilst popping outside for a smoke in the middle of the evening! (The kings you see with M are Oakland drag king troupe Fella-Fem.)

M’s Confession: There was a total bitchy lady sitting near us during dinner. I hate rude people, as soon as they left, I asked the waitress if they had been cunty. She was so relieved she wasn’t the only one who noticed. I left an extra tip to hopefully make up for some of the douchebaggery she had to deal with that night. Who sends back sangria for having peach instead of apple??? Then doesn’t drink the replacement drink?? Seriously, stay home.

Order of the elephant. | August 15, 2008 | Comments (0)

When: Friday, August 15th, 2008.

What: BCBGirls striped linen dress, Danish Royal Order of the Elephant scarf and navy snakeskin clutch both vintage, moto Abercrombie & Fitch corduroy jacket and blue wingtip Mary Janes by Linea Paolo. Feathered headband from Target.

Confession: Did we know that I loathe and despise linen so much? This is the only item of linen clothing I own. It’s soft and friendly and I find it rather Mexican like those scratchy-yet-practical blankets, and it doesn’t omit that odoriferous stench I suppose I developed an aversion to in my childhood.

I once threw a hissyfit when M ordered herself linen pants from Banana Republic, threatening to go on a sexing strike and complaining of a migraine coming on all of the sudden. Turns out I don’t mind those, either.

Also, I adore this scarf.

Wearing my skirt like a flag. | August 14, 2008 | Comments (0)

When: Monday, August 4th, 2008.

What: Creamy chiffon and sheer black ribbon number from BCBG Max Azria, vintage cummerbund by Milor, bronze and black velvet t-strap peep-toe pumps by Bronx. Thrifted onyx pendant and Victorian-inspired Silver Crane Sterling earrings. Sassy black clutch from M’s lil sis.

Confession: This outfit was from our last night in Puerto Rico. Last of the series, y’all! CRY WITH ME! (Except YAY because I have a few shipments en route with new goodies to share with y’all, from Barney’s and Target and Chosen Stock.)

Here are a few just-for-fun PR tourist shots, ooh la la:

Here is a beautiful mossy green door with a fancy toad door knocker. Perhaps it is even a coqui. Anyway, I saw it and fell in love and had to faux-kiss it, like a deranged princess looking for her prince in unconventional places.

Speaking of princesses, here is the lovely La Princesa fountain. I blame the XXX cocktails at SoFo’s Dragonfly (Ketel One Citreon, Sour Apple Fest, Triple Sec w/ fresh lemon-lime juice and splash of cran) and M for making me dance on it. Then there’s the statue by the ominous, industrial iron spikes.
