CONFESSION: I’ve been really feeling Wear Palettes lately. As ever, I’m probably a late bloomer on this but it’s such a great, lazy way to get motivated with your wardrobe and figure out ways to hit all the tones in the daily palettes through creative means like lipstick, actual metals in jewelry, etc. In addition to actual clothes and footwear and bigger, less subtle accessories. I like that they’ve broken out the palettes between street wear, plants and celebs, but I do wish that they created palettes from other sources.

We were walking around the other day and something caught M’s eye, for example, and she exclaimed “That! That should be on one of your palette thingees!” It was food-related, I think. (Super lesbian, I know. Shut up!) When I saw this one I loved it for the strong earthiness, hence the title of this post!

Tell me what you think in the comments:

Oh, lookie! The what and when are noted! All that’s left is the confession, and scent, if applicable. Have I done Parfumerie Generale’s Querelle? No? Well, today is just as good a day as any. Here are the notes: citruses, Iranian black caraway, myrrh, cinnamon, Haittian vetiver, incense, oakmoss, and ambergris. Some consider this to be an evil scent. Some consider it an haute couture scent. It is complex and intimidating and all day long (you can ask M) it would jump out at me out of nowhere, seemingly, and I would feel as though someone was challenging me to a fight. Delicious. Absolutely fucking spectacular. It is violent, it is dirty, it is deeply unnerving. I absolutely love it. The best part? My other sniffs fiend friend unloaded it on me because she loathed it so (she says it smelled like “vetiver ass” on her) – on me, she truly appreciates it.

(Oh, and this is for Jen: We had Caesar salad bib lettuce cups, mini burgers with white cheddar, beef tartare with spicy Thai red curry, kaffir lime oil, sesame crackers, lamb chops and very, very spicy pommes frites for dinner at Lime tonight. So good. Also? Eight dessert “bites” as follows: three mocha creme brulee cups, two dark chocolate-dipped cheesecake pops, one each of the strawberry cream, brownie a la mode and red velvet baby cupcake.)

When: Monday, Jan. 26th, 2008.

What: Lamica boots, Laundry by Shelli Segal trousers, vintage neck-tie blouse by Georgiou Studio, layered vest by Boom Boom Jeans, long cardigan by Kersh Essentials.

Confession: In numeric form, a grab bag of random -

  1. That lady with the litter in SoCal should give M & I a baby. I took the petite and her friends to an especially infant-laden neighborhood cafe this afternoon, and my ovaries went into overdrive. This wee Asian baby waved at me with his little hand. All snuggled inside of his stroller. He couldn’t have been 10 mos.! Can they do that so soon? I’ve forgotten! I’m all out of practice! OMG!
  2. I took my petite and her friends to the arcade today, where she and I scored 700+ tickets. We cashed ‘em in for candy (cherry pixie sticks!) and a fortune telling machine that’s all WIISSSHHHHHHRRHHHSSSHH! YES, BUT PROCEED WITH CAUTION! WHHHSSSSIIISISSHRRRRSSHHH!
  3. There is a new Bachelor episode tonight and I am so so so impatient for it. DeAnna, where are you!?!?!? HURRY UP!
  4. M & I have to go to the gym again tonight, for Operation Get Buff 2009. I’m scared. Hold me!
