Hello!

Happy Oscars!

Happy Spring Forward! (Almost forgot, didn’t you?)

How handsome does the tomboy look in her vintage bowtie and sweater vest?! GAH!

It’s been an exciting weekend. I had a fantastic dinner with my BFF on Friday night,  traipsed 3.2 miles with the tomboy through the Castro and Mission in yesterday’s gorgeous sunshine, went dancing to the ladies of the 80s at New Wave City and brunched at noon today with a dear friend in the lovely Noe Valley. And if you want to hear a dirty little secret, I’ll tell you one (well, two):

  1. I let the tomboy pick out my dress. I can’t believe it’s supposed to be worn this way!
  2. M & I redressed in last night’s outfits for a FFAF shoot because we didn’t have time to last night!
  3. I was forced to wear tights because my bruises from self-defense fights last weekend are still quite prominent and nasty looking. In fact, just yesterday I dubbed the one just above my left knee “the eye of Sauron.” It’s very serious!

I had a lily in my hair last night, but the rest is basically the same. Anyway, we were hoping that you could help us. The tomboy needs a new pair of glasses, and she tried some on yesterday but just isn’t sure. She is also convinced that Tom Ford frames are going to be the answer to all her prayers (not that she prays). Take a look at the three different frames below and let us know which ones you like the best in the comments section!

Masks, boas and reindeer jumpers. | December 7, 2008 | Comments (0)

SPECIAL HOLIDAY FFAF POST!

When: Saturday, Dec. 6th, 2008.

Femme What: Mask and boa courtesy of The Laugh Box in SF. (They are awesome.)

Femme Confession: This post is really all about the tomboy’s amazing Ralph Lauren reindeer jumper, pictured left, procured at a Salvation Army for $2.50 last weekend. She paired it, of course, with a pintuck tuxedo shirt, a black bowtie and black trousers.

Our lovely friends in the South Bay threw a fantastical themed holiday party, complete with unlimited use of the portable photo booth, endless bottles of champagne and a very delicious spread of savory and sweet nibbles. The theme? Everyone was asked to wear an especially unfortunate awesome holiday jumper; there was a prize, and we took it home! (We didn’t win, but we got the prize. Just go with it.)

Tomboy Confession: OK, look at the awesomeness that is my sweater. Excuse me, jumper. It is all sorts of what-the-fuck?? First, yellow and blue? For Christmas? Really? Second, yellow??? Baby blanket yellow?? Wow. It’s just so special. The same kind of special that makes Birdie special. (Birdie = Conor, natch. -Femme) Even though I didn’t win the most-hideous-holiday-jumper contest, most of the fags agreed that I at least deserved an honorable mention.

It’s one thing to wear that sweater to a holiday party, it certainly is quite another to wear it out the bar! Oh wait, I did that too. Very special of me.

Femme note: It’s true. Around a dozen of us ended up going to Hunters, a gay bar in San Jose, after the party died down. M chatted it up at the bar while I danced to Shakira and Lady Ga-Ga and too many Beyonce songs. She never once removed the jumper. Not once. And you know how hot-ass it gets in the gay club. I know you know.

I was very proud. A friend asked point-blank if M was embarassed! M, of course, said, “Um, no. I feel awesome!” and that was that. (That and far too many rounds of Jameson & coke!)

Just for funsies, the newest from Ralph Lauren (M needs it, obvs):

Bowties and knee socks. | August 9, 2008 | Comments (5)

When: Friday, August 8th, 2008.

What: M’s silver bowtie, vintage. Ruffled white blouse from INC International Concepts, black satin and velvet mini from the Erin Fetherston for GO Int’l / Target collection. Black knee socks from Target and liquid silver booties with ombre wedge heel by Apepazzo. Birdie is from Michael’s, that deadly black suckhole of craft addiction.

Black studded bracelet from Dollywood, rings from Laundry by Shelli Segal, vintage  rhinestone and pearl necklace. Coat of arms pin from Tristan and Swarovski art deco studs from Holland’s amazing Silver Crane Sterling. They are probably my favorite source for pretty and sparkly things, next to Made Her Think.

Confession: It is 3am and I am drunk as preppy skunk in these photos. They were taken after our night out dancing. Also, I was super pissed off that months ago I was all “Ooh! Bowtie as headband!” and during our Jenner mini-break I cracked open that month’s issue of Elle and BLAM! KA-CHOW! there was my goddamn bowtie headband idea. I hate when that happens! I thought of it first, you assholes! (It is possible that I am still ever so slightly boozy.) Anyway, I rocked that shit last night, so there.
