CONFESSION: Specifically, my tomboy. Is there anything hotter than a tomboy with a book? I think not. You lucky readers get a healthy dose of tomboy eye candy AND my must-have modcloth.com dresses of the moment, just for fun.

On Saturday, M & I were up and out the door by 10AM to head to Enoteca 100, an Italian wine tasting event with delicious nibbles, on a spectacularly lovely Fall day. There was so much goodness to sip, beautiful flower arrangements at every turn, super cute puppies and heavenly bites like ravioli stuffed with beef, pork and rabbit or juicy wild boar spread over crostini drizzled with olive oil, and so so so many wondrous cheeses, too. We tried to pace ourselves by starting with Prosecco, then to whites and reds, but after sampling about three dozen bottles, we had to call it a day!

PS. My leggings are DKNY and the lacy sweater is by Hazel, from Lounge in NYC.

Grapes & gratitude. | November 30, 2008 | Comments (0)

dsc06491 dsc06725 dsc06608-1 dsc06696 dsc06468

When: Thanksgiving Day, 2008.

Femme What: Sweater dress by Dolce, green belted trench by Do & Be, brown chevron tights from Old Navy. Skinny brown belt by Elie Tahari, olive green knit socks by some fancy Italians (I can’t remember the brand, sob) and Donald J. Pliner boots. For the trek to the actual river, I wore my awesome “hiking” boots from El Mexico. They are the only boots, aside from my Noconas, that haven’t got a 4″ min. heel!

Femme Scent: Serge Lutens Chêne, of course.

Femme Confession: I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. My top three thanks, for the record: My precious girls. My resilient health, while it lasts. The dearest, most clever, loyal and affectionate friends a girl could wish for.

Tomboy What: Awesome bear sweater from Express, shirt from Banana Republic (with vintage fleur-de-lys cuff links – a bit much, I KNOW), brown label jeans from Lounge, and brown boots from Harley-Davidson.

Tomboy Confession: I started the day with a completely different outfit: black slacks, a black blazer and the same green shirt (silver and black griffin cuff links from Ben Sherman instead of gold fleur-de-lys ones) and black boots. I only changed because my black boots are too faggy, they provide absolutely no traction! Since the trek down to the river is the absolute highlight of my dogs’ lives, I changed into something more “outdoorsy.”

Second Tomboy Confession: I ate about 100 grapes from the vines to and from the river!

When: Tuesday, Nov. 11th, 2008.

What: Gray sweater with fancy black lace and matching scarf by Hazel from Lounge in Soho, black dress from H&M, vintage scarf from my mom, gray chevron knee socks from Barney’s. Boots by Restricted from piperlime.com.

Scent: Today I am wearing Figue Amère from Miller Harris. It’s described as being “curious contrast of fleshy fruit with astringent salt.” When I put it on I thought that I was headed for tragic old lady perfume territory, but within an hour it evolved into something, yes, juicy and clean and salty all at once.

Confession: When I stole borrowed this from my mom for the first time almost twenty years ago, it never occurred to me that I’d one day rock it so casually on a blustery day at work. It’s delicate, with a black rose pattern and stretches over seven feet from one end to the other, with silver thread running throughout the entire scarf. It’s really beautiful and I’ve always loved it. In fact, I’m amazed it’s lasted this long. (Few things are truly SBJ-proof).

I’ve mostly used it the way my mother once did – as a shawl for covering up a evening gown or cocktail dress for a fancy night out. But I really love it like this, too. I feel like with the silver in the awesome chevron of these knee-high socks, I should have worn my robo-femme boots instead, but this outfit still makes me happy!

PS. I am going to try v. hard to keep consistent with the new Scent section whenever I can. Thanks, Viper, for the suggestion. This post is also named after my new favorite song, Miss Miss, by Figurine. Listen for free here!
